Welcome to our durian packing house!

We are Thai Chi Export, owners and operators of our own independent durian packing houses in Chanthaburi and Chumphon provinces, Thailand. We have Thai durians for export at best quality and wholesale prices to anywhere in the world.

Durian season in Thailand starts in March every year and ends somewhere in December. If that seems surprisingly long, that’s because Thailand is the world leader in durian exports. Whereas durian in other countries is only in season for 3-4 months, Thailand can produce durians almost all year round!

Not for no reason are Thai durians considered the world’s best. We harvest the fruits at 75-80% ripeness, thus allowing them to fully ripen during their long journey overseas. Once harvested, we bring them to our packing house where each individual fruit is graded, separated, and packed for shipping. Only the highest A and AB grade durians are selected for export – the lower grades are priced cheaper and sold to local wholesale markets. Hence, if you want the best durians, you’ve got to get them from the source!

What separates export-grade durian from the lower grades? Here are the criteria:

Has at least 4 “pods” of flesh per fruit Bright, healthy-looking skin with no blotches or discoloration. Thin shell, which equals more edible flesh (i.e. 35-40% flesh yield by weight)

Harvested at the right level of ripeness

We are highly experienced at packing durians according to different needs and specifications, and we can provide various packing options for our customers from around the world. For our China buyers, we pack in 18kg cardboard boxes; for certain customers in Taiwan, Japan, Korea and the US, we deliver in smaller 12kg cardboard cartons; and other buyers from the US, Canada and Europe require foam boxes at 15kg each. There are many different durian cultivars, but these are some of the most popular:

There are many different durian cultivars, but these are some of the most popular:

Monthong – The most popular durian cultivar in Thailand, and most likely the world too! Monthong means “golden pillow” in Thai, and they’re known by their large size (2-6kgs), visible segments, irregular shape, and lightly sweet pale yellow flesh. Monthong’s popularity means they’re readily available for export most of the season.

Kan Yao – Its name means “long stem”, which is also how you can tell one – by its characteristically long stem. This cultivar is among the most prized and expensive in Thailand, and the famed Kan Yao durians from Nonthaburi province can fetch up to $200 per fruit. More affordable ones are available for export, but the rich sweetness of Kan Yao durians makes them worth the price!

Puang Manee – A lesser-known cultivar that’s growing in popularity, Puang Manee durians are known as “crystal durians” (水晶榴莲) in Chinese. They’re the cutest durians you’ll ever see, with their small size and smooth, regular spines, but they also provide plenty of deliciously sweet and tasty flesh!
